It’s Week 9… Ha’way the lads and lasses. It’s everyone’s 6th favourite* Geordie here with this week’s roundup. Still not sure why I agreed to this given I have a shit tonne of work to do and a flight to catch to Germany tomorrow for the NFL’s 5th International Game of the year (I don’t count the Jags, soz) on Sunday in a town called Berlin. Anyhoo… strap in, it’s gonna be rushed!
Week 9 Score: SnowshufflerJr - L (118.41) 2-7 // Shedeurs Support Group - W (139.52) 1-8
I think we can all agree that Top Billing has to go to our very own Barry Fry, with no fewer than 7 trades and waiver claims this week to overhaul his gaggle of misfits, Reece transformed his team into something that looks like they might claim another couple of scalps before the season is up. Best shout probably being his new kicker. Like a young blonde lad from the streets of the Toon, Fairbairn brought in a canny 17pts. The win coming with 2 players out, I should add. A bloody shame for Wor Jennifer as a matchup against 3 of the other teams in the league would’ve seen her walk away with the W. Even Higgins (33.10pts) being in the team rather than on the bench, wouldn’t have quite done it. Unlucky but not a bad showing with a stunning 38.80pts from the guy who sounds like he could be a Bond Villain or a WWE wrestler, Drake London.
Week 9 Score: NobodyNeedsGoodNabers - L (123.54) 3-6 // Clapton Catz - W (134.02) 4-5
A very close initial matchup this one, with only 3.97pts the projected difference (At least I think that’s how it works). Mr Hulme’s team coming in only 1 point behind his predicted score. And what a shock with high-scoring Brock, to still end up on the losing side, both him and NNGN. 43.30pts is ridiculous for a TE. But when you have 6 players posting only single digits, it’s not gonna end well. Zan’s QB being the standout in an allround steady team performance. Josh Allen with 28.82pts being top dog there**,** beating the Chiefs for the 5th time in a row in the regular season**.** Great to see another team dragging themselves towards a winning record.
Week 9 Score: Multiple Goregasms - W (113.47) 5-4 // Breece Lightning - L (66.60) 4-5
The Battle of the Foursies. An even closer early prediction here with only 0.79pts in it. Sadly, it did not end up as close for Breece Lightning. The lowest score of the week. It feels mean to kick a man when he’s down, so I won’t. I’m gonna struggle to find some positives though. But I love a challenge. So you did a lovely thing and gave your DEF a night off. The Philadelphia lads were stood down as, in the words of Heidi Klum’s ex-husband, you sang “Bye Like An Eagle”. (I know, I was reaching for that one). Best thing, Patty Mahomes didn’t get injured, hurrah! Besty moved into winning record territory here but with the lowest winning score of 113.47pts. The 13 to match Newcastle’s position in the Premier League. I still canneenot believe Sun-da-land are in 4th man! I digress, a win with leaving only 0.70pts on the bench is pretty good going! Fair play.
Week 9 Score: Third Time Charmers - W (171.30) 8-1 // Game of Throws - L (94.43) 6-3
I’m really falling asleep now like. Go on then, I better chat a bit about how amazing Matt’s doing. Living it up in Dubai, probably eating some of that fucking green pistachio chocolate that’s EVERYWHERE right now and was probably actually first made in twatting Scunthorpe or summat. Anyway, cracking score O’Daly. Moving to 8-1 is pretty impressive. You could’ve almost reached the dizzy heights of 200pts if you’d selected Caleb (41.70pts) over your beloved Dak, but you didn’t need him. Great showing from the 21.50pts Steelers and another 4 players crossing 20pts, with CMC the standout on 34.30pts. Mr Saiker just didn’t have the points this week. Not a lot left on the bench but not a lot in the starting line-up either unfortunately. Less than 100pts overall is not ideal but your record is good enough to allow a slip or two.
Week 9 Score: Dali’s Salvadors - L (136.25) 7-2 // A Tadd McShonkey - W (141.81) 5-4
I’m also gonna jump on that train of being afford to lose one or two. It all came down to CeeDee balling out but alas, he whimpered to a measly (by his standards) 15.50pts. For a short while it was the battle of the RBs. Williams v Etienne. A player just an ‘S’ short of being one of the most underrated pop bands of the 90s. The score was so tight at that stage it could’ve given Rich’s trousers a run for their money. But I applaud you, Mr B. A great battle in which you were originally supposed to lose. Some great 1-on-1s across the matchup. Kickers matching each other 10.00pts for 10.00pts. Monangai 22.80 v 28.10 Dowdle. Ouch! I might just have to put it down to my TE though. Unbelievable after last week. Tomorrow, as I’m hurtling down the Autobahn, I will still be trying to figure out how I couldn’t make Kraft work.
