Week 12
Basically Done
It’s Week 12 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League.
It’s getting to that time. Risks need to be taken and as the great Wayne Gretsky once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” For some of you, you gotta shoot that shot to make the playoffs!

It’s Week 12 and 4 moves a piece from Rich and Andy in the waivers, where there were a couple of duds, but also a couple of very inspired picks. But if you pick’em, you’ve got to play’em, right Rich 😉 Also fun to watch the yo-yo’ing of Joe Burrow in and out of Andy’s roster. Still hedging those bets. We needed to see some big results this week from Mike, Jen and Matt Hulme© as they make their last hail mary play for the playoffs.
Week 12 Score: NobodyNeedsGoodNabers - W (178.26) 4-8 // A Tadd McShonkey - L (96.52) 6-6
An absolutely MEGA week from the reigning champ. Less of a matchup and more of a clean up, with a personal season's best score, the best score of the season overall and also to cap it off Jahmyr Gibbs got the highest score of any player this season with a frankly absurd 58.4pts. He could have almost beaten Besty on his own. Astonishing numbers from Matt for is trying to take some momentum to nick a playoff spot from Rich or Zan. The only blemish was D’Andre Swift, who only posted 0.90pts on a very quiet day. As for Rich, well, after last week's narrow victory he was resoundingly blown out of the water by a swashbuckling performance from Matt. The second biggest loss of the season, so couldn’t even get a win there 🙄. Interestingly, Rich’s lineup was pretty efficient, just nowhere near the performance required. Shout out to A.J. Brown for getting a tidy 25pts for the McShonkey’s . To be fair, with Matt’s team posting these insane numbers, a win was never really on the cards. 👏🏻

Week 12 Score: Game of Throws - W (113.07) 8-4 // Breece Lightning - L (106.28) 4-8
I would say Andy survived this matchup more than won it. A Shedeur inspired Browns DEF- scored 23.25pts, Mchael Wilson got 21.80pts and with no points on the bench it’s 100% efficiency, but that’s where the good news ends. It was a pretty lacklustre performance from the rest of the team with 5 players getting under 10pts. Mike on the other hand is having a torrid time of it of late. Just cannot select the right starting line up. A worse performance than last week, he left 83.86pts on the bench and at this point it should be admired. With better efficiency, he should have bagged an extra 37.08pts with George Pickens (29.6pts) the pick of the bench warmers. With this result Andy secures himself a playoff spot and needs a slip up from Dali to snatch that valuable BYE week. Mike on the other hand is heading to the Toilet Bowl with only a 9.6% chance of making it out. Tough first season for the rookie coach.
Previous Score Week 3: Game of Throws W (136.88) // Breece Lightning L (90.36)
Week 12 Score: Third Time Charmers - W (154.26) 11-1 // SnowshufflerJr - L (121.81) 4-8
At this point of the season, I feel I am in cruise control. Playoffs confirmed. Bye week confirmed. Dak Prescott (27.06pts) on the bench in ‘break glass in case of emergency’ form. I just need to maintain this for 5 more weeks. JSN had an excellent week, netting me 40.10pts, alongside CMC with 26.20pts. I even had enough room to select Jameson WIlliams who drew a blank for this gameweek and really not be phased by it. A tale of bad luck for Jen as she had the highest losing score of the week and would have won if playing against any one of six other coaches in the league. Luck of the draw I guess. Nice scores from Hurts (30.86pts) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (29.90pts) but 5 players under 10pts and not a lot of change on the bench meant that Jen takes another L and slips further towards the toilet bowl with a 9.2% likelihood of making it out of the bottom half.
Previous Score Week 3: Third Time Charmers W (177.84) // nowshufflerJr L (84.09)
Week 12 Score: Shedeurs Support Group - L (94.62) 1-11 // Clapton Catz - W (143.12) 5-7
This week, Reece’s kicking came from Zan. Didn’t even make it to triple figures and if we hadn’t guessed it already, it’s mathematically impossible for Reece to get out of the Bowl and so at this point he is just here for the vibes. Even with a long-overdue Commissioner assist, Reece neglected to pick a RB- and did nothing about Sam LaPorta being out injured. He missed major points to capitalise on Stafford (22.92pts), Jeanty (24.80pts) and Moore’s (23.40pts) excellent showing. I hope Arizona was fun though, you stuck to one Jags player, so that meant they won, which must have been a relief for you. Zan, I can’t congratulate you for beating Reece, but I can say good luck for the next two weeks. You play Jen and Mike, so will have a huge say in their ability to make the playoffs and likely your rookie season playoff spot is secure. Decent scores from Henry (22.80pts), Adams (23.20pts) and Rams DEF- (22.50pts) gives you some momentum going into the final weeks.

Week 12 Score: Multiple Goregasms - L (59.81) 7-5 // Dali’s Salvadors - W (85.42) 9-3
The Battle of the Geordies. Dali went looking for redemption and despite both players doing their level best to score as few points as possible, he came away with the W to make up for Week 3’s loss. Betsy came back this week. His best performer, if you can believe it, was the Jags DEF- with 12.25pts. 7 players under 10pts is frankly abysmal and you should be thankful that your playoff spot is already secured. Now, if you can carry this form into the playoffs it would be appreciated greatly. As for Dali, he got his win, goes 9-3 for the season and secures his playoff spot. Nice work from Emanuel Wilson (26.50pts) but that’s really where the highlight reel fades. This felt like a workman like win for the north-east, ground out from the efforts or lack thereof of others. Still a little work to do to get the much coveted BYE week, and with Andy up next and Matt Hulme© the following week, this could be difficult.

Week 12 and we are basically done. This week’s results sees a big shift in playoff confirmations. Four spots have now been confirmed, with myself, Dali, Andy and Besty through. The last two spots look likely to go to Zan and Rich. Now based on the stats and some very long-winded computational modelling, our reigning Champion Matt Hulme© has a ‘long shot’ of making it, but one of Zan or Rich has got to drop the ball in spectacular fashion for that to happen. Jen and MIke, it looks like Reece’s gravity is going to pull you into the Toilet Bowl, unless you can pull off a miracle against either Zan (Jen) or myself (Mike). Good luck. You’re going to need it.
According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include (but are not limited to Reece:
Trevor Lawrence - QB
RJ Harvey - RB
Courtland Sutton - WR
Brenton Strange - TE
Harrison Butker - K
Los ANgeles Chargers - DEF
Legends don’t play for points. They play for the CeeDee Compilation Bowl.
