It’s Week 4 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League. A great week of football, where Besty would have been in heaven, with the amount of Steelers fans present, the unimaginative cries of ‘Here we go, Steelers, here we go’, will live long in the memory 😑.

This week was viewed from the Emerald Isle herself. A literal view from Row Z at the Steelers vs Vikings game. A weekend of Guinness, good pizza and wonderful steak, mixed with an orthopedic surgeon from Belfast who told us a story of how he punched a cat to rescue his wife, and two Germans that were less than impressed with the amount of beer Rich and I drank, and even less impressed with how often I needed to go past them for a pee break. Aisle seats next time please, Dali. Jen impressively managed to make the game after a brief stop in Copenhagen. She still couldn’t offload Drake London, but that turned out alright. We made it home and Rich made it in time to produce an episode of Big Brother whilst nurturing a hangover and two nights of listening to me snore. 😴

Week 4 Score: SnowshufflerJr (163.05) 1-3 // Clapton Cats (131.81) 2-2

The week's widest score and, despite getting the 4th highest score of the week, Zan dropped the ball to go 2-2. Jen finally got over her case of the Dali’s and made this week’s most efficient line-up count. Drake London (25.0pts) finally coming good, and everyone’s favourite WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (26.0pts), was the top scorer. Ably backed up by Egbuka (23.10pts) and the Lions DEF getting a tidy 22.25pts. Excellent effort. You can breathe a sigh of relief. A tough week for Zan. Tough luck in the fixtures this week, but still good performances from Allen (24.86pts) and the monstrously large DK Metcalf (26.60pts), was nice to see, but you were let down by the tail end of your team. Nice pickup of the Texans DEF (16.75pts) though, not sure I thought that would have been as productive as it was.

Week 4 Score: EverybodyNeedsGoodNabers (110.59) 2-2 // Shadeurs Support Group (81.13) 0-4

Well this week’s gimme was the lowest scoring win for Matt Hulme© and despite his team doing everything they could to lose, he still came out on top. Five players scored under 10pts. Fields (26.14pts) did great after he sat out Week 3 (and after I dropped him - seems to be a theme this year) and a mention to James Cook (22.50pts) with yet another 20+ points haul for the fourth week straight. Not so good from Malik Nabers though - good to see this downturn in form represented in an updated team name. Onto Reece. 0-4. The self-titled ‘Daddy’ made some moves this week, but not one of them paid off. Good to see Kyle Pitts (18.0pts) get his highest score of the season after being dropped. Jeanty (35.50pts) aside, it was a dismal week for Daddy. Shout out to the Packers DEF (-4.25pts) and I wonder if Dali is worried his record will be beaten so soon?

Week 4 Score: Game of Throws (96.42) 3-1 // Dali’s Salvadors (117.72) 3-1

A very average matchup for the two veteran coaches this week, with Andy picking up his first loss of the season. Not a great day at the office- everyone under-performed. His only highlight, Courtland Sutton (19.10pts), was on the bench and everyone else struggled to get near the 15+ points mark. At least Goff has returned to his usual self 😏. Onto Dali, who is having a great season so far, going 3-1 and still managing to find the time and energy to put on all the games this season. Jacobs (31.70pts) and Johnston (23.80pts) were the highlights this week, not great from others, but Andy not really turning up for Week 4 helped a fair bit. Keep it going Dali - you love to see it after last year's horror show.

Week 4 Score: Multiple Goregasms (117.64) 2-2 // A Tadd McShonkey (145.30) 1-3

Besty returns to losing ways this week as Rich also picked up his first win of the season. Second-highest score of the week, with Robinson (27.10pts), Hampton (30.50pts) and Gainwell (31.40pts) taking the lion’s share of the points. On Gainwell, thank you Richard, for handily pointing out that Jaylen Warren was out in Week 4 and that I should pick up Gainwell in his place. Except I didn’t, because you nabbed him from under my nose. This won’t be forgotten. Mark my words. Besty, you had some decent scores in Nix (25.74pts), Irving (27.50pts) and Jefferson (22.60pts) but the rest of your team just sort of upped and evaporated, with five players scoring under 12pts. Still, you were the second-most efficient, but just not enough points on the board.

Week 4 Score: Third Time Charmers (142.23) 4-0 // Breece Lightning (124.40) 2-2

This week’s tightest matchup. But it should have absolutely been Mike’s. No question about it, but this week's least efficient coach left 42.1pts on the table and had he played the right players, would have walked away with a decent win. To be fair, nobody could have predicted Tyreek Hill’s (12.70pts) leg pointing towards the exit sign and George Pickens warming your bench with a league-topping 33.4pts for Week 4. Speaking of leaving points on the bench, my QB woes continue, and after making what I thought was an educated gamble dropping Justin Fields (26.14pts) for Caleb Williams (9.78pts), and leaving Dak Prescott (30.96pts) on the bench, it turned out to be a series of just terrible choices. My team is 100% being propped up by Nacua (36.0pts) and CMC’s (25.1pts) rickety legs. Somehow I go 4-0 and maintain my winning start. For the second time this season, I would objectively say it’s undeserved. But a win is a win. I will take them however they come.

Stats from the Overlord

As another gameweek passes by, it’s time to take my hangover into Week 5 and start focusing on keeping my win streak alive. I am sure you’re all hoping Besty can do a job next week. Let’s see. We have the battle of the rookies next week, with Mike and Zan, and to be fair, both of them need to start putting some wins together. Reece. I am not sure what you do now, but I am certain the solution does not lie in adding more Jags players to your roster.
