Week 8

The 0 had to go

It’s Week 8 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League. It’s a week of mega efficiency in the league and as Dale Carnegie once said, "You can only have two things in life, reasons and results. Reasons don't count." So, let’s see these results…

It’s Week 8 and it's been a VERY busy week on the waivers. Reece in particular made 9 changes to his team and it’s good to see that almost all of them were flops. At this point I am certain one of my nieces could handle the rest of the season better. Rich is worth a mention here, putting Bijan Robinson on the Trade Block. No takers though. Offers will be heard as Rich tries to turn around what he described as, “..a lineup bereft of talent.” Although, he could have been talking about Reece’s team as well 🤷🏻‍♂️. It was good to see Dali making team selections by committee, outsourcing the work for zero accountability 👌🏻. Anyways, let’s see what really happened.

Week 8 Score: A Tadd McShonkey - W (111.32) 4-4 // Shedeurs Support Group - L (75.48) 0-8

In a week where someone’s 0 had to go, it was almost a certainty that it wouldn’t be Reece’s. In a chaotic week of changes for the Sophomore coach and despite a good effort from Rashee Rice (24.5pts) and Xavier Hutchinson (17.90pts) everything else was a difficult watch. There is some good news, both coaches achieved 100% efficiency this week. However, if you dig in a little bit, Reece got his default as he had no other players to play and Rich was much the same except for Kincaid (3.30pts) who was never going to make a difference. A couple of nice highlights for Rich in Flacco (24.32pts) and the Bills DEF (21.50pts) but lets be honest with ourselves this matchup had about as much spice as a Chicken Korma.

Week 8 Score: NobodyNeedsGoodNabers - L (150.42) 3-5 // Breece Lightning - W (163.42) 4-4

This week's 2nd tightest match up saw Matt Hulme© take on Mike. Only 13 points separated the two teams and there were some MASSIVE scores. James Cook (36.6pts), Sequon Barkley (36.4pts), Breece Hall (32.86pts) andMahomes (22.96pts). Matt really could not have done anymore, highest losing score of the week, 100% efficiency with his lineup and Mike coming almost matching it with 97.15% efficiency. You could have scored an extra 4.8pts with the perfect lineup. Not that you needed it, it would just be showing off at this point. Mike is now politely knocking on the door of going over PF 1,000+ and moves into 4th place in the league. Unfortunately, Matt drops into the Toilet Bowl bracket with plenty to do to turn this around.

Week 8 Score: Multiple Goregasms - W (134.88) 4-4 // SnowshufflerJr - L (115.11) 2-6

A lovely match up this one. Besty finally shook off the losing alter ego to go 4-4 and Jen, well, she is suffering a bit this year. Currently the highest PA score and first coach to slip over the 1,000 mark to go 1096.93 PA. But I am sure in, ‘Your other league’, you’re doing great 😏. For Besty the Tampa DEF (30.5pts) was the absolute standout performer with an incredible points tally. Special shout out for rookie Brashard Smith with -0.20pts, what a contribution. Jen is the 4th coach this week to gain 100% efficiency despite having Drake Maye score 25.28pts, it wouldn’t have made any difference. Jen now moves to 2-6 and is losing hope of making the playoffs, which ‘i think’ will be the first time it’s happened in our league’s history. 😬 Please correct me if I am wrong.

Week 8 Score: Game of Throws - W (145.78) 6-2 // Clapton Cats - L (134.97) 3-5

A close match up this one, but Andy took the spoils from Zan right from under his nose. If both coaches had picked the right players, the outcome would have been reserved and a whole lot closer, with Zan taking 152.67pts to Andy’s 150.68pts. Unlike Cam Skattebo’s L-shaped ankle you can consider yourself very lucky Andy. The highlight undoubtedly was Jonathan Taylor’s 40.40pt game. Another 3 TDs and another massive haul of points. As for Zan he left Chase Brown (25.5pts) on the bench and it would have won him the match up had he played. A consistent season so far from Zan, but has also been statistically the unluckiest player in the league - not to be confused with the worst player in the league (Reece) - so the slide towards the Toilet Bowl seems inevitable at this point.

Week 8 Score: Third Time Charmers - L (96.32) 7-1 // Dali’s Salvadors - W (147.88) 7-1

Well…I had to wait until Week 8 for it to happen, but it finally happened. CMC (9.80pts) had a bad gameweek. I know. I know. You all thought it would be sooner, but here we are 8 weeks for him to score in the single digits. Unbelievable really. A tough BYE week with Nacua and JSN unavailable, but a fantastic showing from Waiver pickup, Khalil Shakir (23.80pts) and Michael Pittman (23.50pts). Shoutout to the Steelers for scoring -5pts. Of course, I'm very happy about that. Dali had a steady, boring week with the Chargers providing points from Herbert (25.28pts) and McConkey (20.80pts), plus an excellent turn from Tucker Kraft with a season's best of 33.30pts. Well done. You did well. In other news. I lost. Dali won. Oh how lovely.

So, that was Week 8. Obviously an uneventful one, Reece lost again, BYE weeks were tough on everyone and I lost. Blah blah blah. A few questions as we move to Week 9. Will Dali’s record be safe? Will Jen be the first to go 2000pts+ PA? Will anyone make a good offer to Rich for Bijan Robinson?

I still need a volunteer to write the report next week. I am travelling in the fine Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but for anyone up for it, I will be able to run most of the maths for you this time around (sorry Matt), but I just need someone to do the writing. Hands in the air! Also, timings go back to normal next week, 6pm Sunday KO.

According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:

Jared Goff - QB

Tyrone Tracy - RB

Marvin Harrison - WR

Hunter Henry - TE

Jake Bates - K

Los Angeles Rams - DEF

Legends don’t play for points. They play for the CeeDee Compilation Bowl.
