Week 13
Low Points Matter. Eventually.
It’s Week 13 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League.
Unlucky for some, Week 13 has firmed up the playoff spots. As Arnie once said, “You can have results or excuses, not both”, and sadly, four of you only have excuses.

It’s Week 13 and it’s Thanksgiving Week. For those that did celebrate, I hope you enjoyed your Thursday Sunday roast. For everyone else, I hope you got a good Black Friday deal. To the waivers then and this week was quiet. Dali made the most changes with three pickups. Notably, he brought in Irish Kicker, Charlie Smyth, fresh from the International Player Pathway programme and Saints practice squad, setting the world alight with a 5pt haul. I jest. Massive congrats - proof that the Irish can kick a ball as well as the shit out of each other. A very quiet week by all other standards. A question for Matt- whose idea was it to have Joe Marler wear a different team shirt for every link of the show? He didn’t look happy about it. Anyways, the playoffs have been decided so let’s see how it panned out. SPOILER ALERT - Reece didn’t get a Christmas miracle.
Week 12 Score: NobodyNeedsGoodNabers - W (95.62) 5-8 // Shedeurs Support Group - L (62.27) 1-12
This week’s scrappiest matchup. Matt Hulme© needed a W and got it. But sadly, it’s not enough. Other results meant that, despite a valiant effort against the unstoppably poor Shedeurs Support Group, he didn't make it, and will compete for the Shit King crown. A great QB pick of Sam Darnold (1.12pts), who managed to keep himself well out of the game, and left the Seahawks DEF to absolutely smash the Vikings. Nice score from Bowers (22.30pts), but the 23.44pts missed, due to poor efficiency, could have made this a lot worse for Reece. Speaking of which…Reece…are you still here? You left Rice (28.40pts) on the bench and played LaPorta, who is on the IR list. Maybe you’ll come alive in the Toilet Bowl or most likely not. Your highlight was the Vikings DEF who, after getting battered by the Seahawks, still managed to return you 13.25pts. To top it all off, it was the 3rd lowest score of the season so far. Unbelievable scenes. The upshot is, you both suck and you’ll likely meet again in the first round of the Toilet Bowl playoff.
Previous Score Week 4: NobodyNeedsGoodNabers W (110.59) // Shedeurs Support Group L (81.13)
Week 12 Score: Game of Throws - W (118.89) 9-4 // Dali’s Salvadors - L (104.19) 9-4
The game of the week for me. These two both needed the win. Dali to claim the BYE week and Andy to keep himself in the hunt for it. The week’s second tightest match up proved to be a fun one. There were a few moments when this match up was too close to call, but the spoils went to Andy, who just had a bit more luck when it came down to it. No big standout performances, aside from McBride (22.20pts), and four other players in the double digits. The efficiency was poor, hence the luck…there was a potential 149.49pts up for grabs, but Dali’s week sort of broke apart, along with Justin Herbert’s (12.84pts) hand. There really was nothing to be done here, as the optimum lineup wouldn’t have beaten Andy. Tough break, but the hunt for the BYE week continues. Best of luck to you both, but a forward glance at the fixtures shows that Andy is a shoe-in for the W and on PF, Andy will take it. Dali is praying for a Reece miracle and for Matt Hulme to have a stinker. My money is on Andy, sorry Dali.
Previous Score Week 4: Game of Throws L (96.42) // Dali’s Salvadors W (117.72)
Week 12 Score: Third Time Charmers - L (104.35) 11-2 // Breece Lightning - W (113.29) 5-8
I’ve been banging on all season about how important it is to pick the right players at the right time. And this week, Mike finally did it and I completely failed at it. A simple Thursday evening switch between last week's zero scorer Williams (26.90pts) and Shakir (1.5pts) was the difference between the W and the L. Today, I picked up only my second L of the season with as much grace as a hippo balancing on a ball. I am moderately irritated. Efficiency let me down and I left a silly 29.7pts in the ether. The ever reliable JSN (4.30pts) chose this week to have his worst game of the season and Nacua (13.20pts) had an off week as well. Still, it’s fine. The BYE week is secure and I get to watch the rest of you scrap for the remaining spots. Congrats to Mike, finally getting the efficiency right and only left 14.5pts on the bench. Shoutout to Mahomes (29.44pts) and the trio of Cowboys players that cumulatively got you 44.8pts, despite losing to the Panthers. A tight match up for sure and Mike will be very happy with a late season win to take him into the Toilet Bowl, with a little belief that when he does play the right players, he can get himself a win. As much as I don’t like to lose (if you can believe that), I am happier losing when there isn’t so much at stake. Week 17 is where the real prize is handed out and I just have to keep focused until then.
Previous Score Week 4: Third Time Charmers W (142.43) // Breece Lightning L (124.40)
Week 12 Score: SnowshufflerJr - L (62.55) 4-9 // Clapton Catz - W (120.62) 7-6
To the week’s biggest blowout score now, and at this point, I am sure that Jen, much like Reece, has fully taken her eye off the ball and is freewheeling into a collision course with him for this year’s Shit King. 4th lowest score of the season overall and a week to forget for Jen. 7 players scoring under 10pts, a 0pt’er from the injured St. Brown and the rest just really isn’t worth the paper it’s not printed on. Zan, on the other hand, has made the playoffs in his Rookie season. Now if I remember correctly, Matt H just scraped into the playoffs last year and went on to win it. Could history be about to repeat itself? Quiet all season and then BAM. He is in contention. Good efficiency this week, with Davante Adams (21.80pts) the star and respectable(ish) points from the rest of the team. The Rams DEF are not included here, as they could only cobble together a couple of points against the Panthers. Let’s see if Jen wakes up to play for a bit of pride or if she is already planning next year's draft.
Previous Score Week 4: SnowshufflerJr W (162.05) // Clapton Catz L (131.81)

Lastly, for today, Betsy stays and, despite a tense weekend at times, it was very much a one-sided affair. Rich takes the win to book his spot in the playoffs. I can hear the sigh of relief from here. It does help when three players score over 30pts, so well done to Robinson (30.30pts), A.J. Brown (35.20pts) and the mighty Seahawks bringing home a 2nd highest DEF score of the season with 34.0pts. Now you just need another W to get yourself a decent seed for the playoffs but just maybe don’t play Zay FLowers (-0.40pts). As for Betsy. The wheels have come off somewhat. Two losses in a row have seen you tumble down the order and your low PF score is going to bite you in the arse if there are any tied records. Only Nico Collins (21.50pts) got a decent points haul and with 27.5pts lost to the void, it should have been a much tighter game between the veteran fantasy coaches. Props to the Jags DEF though, with 20.50pts. I bet Reece is kicking himself for not picking them up/dropping them. Delete as appropriate - am sure the whole Jags team has cycled in and out of his team at some point.

Week 13 and the playoff spots are spoken for. I have taken the top spot and the #1 seed. Dali and Andy are left to duke it out for the remaining BYE week, and second and third. Zan, Rich and Besty, all tied on 7-6 records, have it all to play for to decide their seedings of 4-6. The Toilet Bowl is full of Reece, Jen, Mike and Matt H. It’s going to be a slog, but I think we all know who is going to be the two-time Shit King by now. See you all next week for the final of the regular season. Lots still to play for.
According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include, but are not limited to:
Jordan Love - QB
Kenneth Gainwell - RB
Jakobi Meyers - WR
Harold Fannin - TE
Chase McLaughlin - K
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DEF
Legends don’t play for points. They play for the CeeDee Compilation Bowl.
