It’s Week 5 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League. Two coaches have unblemished records this week. Myself going 0-5 and Reece avoiding any sort of winning position to remain 0-5. Week 5…Reece did not heed my advice and added the Jags DEF to his roster. This guy and his Jags players 🙄. The waivers were busy, but perhaps a bit lacklustre. Texans DEF dropped for the Cardinals, but that didn’t 100% work out, lots of action around Travis Etienne, but ended up not being a great pickup. I hope those of you that went, enjoyed the game at Sp*rs stadium and seeing Vikings pick up a win after last weeks heartbreak. Enough waffle…lets go.

Week 5 Score: Breece Lightning (118.82) 2-3 // Clapton Cats (124.07) 3-2

I have to start with the rookie match up. This week's closest match up by just 5.25pts went right down to the wire. Yet again Mike had the chance to make this a much needed victory, but the age old story of picking the right players rears its head for the second week running. You missed by ~5pts but with an optimal line up you would have got a haul of 141.82pts to get you over the line. Zac Erts (0pts) let you down as he drew a blank, having failed to catch his one and only target of the game, but the biggest miss was Stefon Diggs with 24.60pts on the bench. Congrats to Zan, snuck through this week with the lowest winning score and only Waddle (23.0pts) getting over 20pts and Derrick Henry (9.30pts) failing to get over the +10pts mark for the fourth week running. Looks like both of you have some changes to make, but Mike needs to find a way to turn this losing streak around.

Week 5 Score: Dali’s Salvadors (135.96) 4-1 // NobodyNeedsGoodNabers (117.67) 2-3

Another excellent week from Dali. He’s certainly found his rhythm this year, maybe you could give Reece some tips? It certainly helps when Kyren Williams (30.10pts) and Baker Mayfield (26.66pts) get a decent points haul for you. Not so great from Johnston (5.90pts) and Johnson (3.70pts) but the rest of the roster had enough in the tank to get you through. Perfect efficiency rating for this week as well, top job! As for reigning champion Matt Hulme©, well, not such a great week. Justin Fields (25.92pts) was definitely the highlight (no thank you’s required Matt, was my pleasure helping you out 😉). You could have got more with an optimal lineup, but 133.07pts wouldn’t have been enough this week. On the brightside, Malik Nabers is on IR and so perhaps a new team name is in order…?

Week 5 Score: Game of Throws (142.52) 4-1 // Shadeurs Support Group (111.99) 0-5

Andy vs Reece. Poor old Reece. A lamb to the slaughter this week as Andy absolutely steamrolled him. Taylor (31.60pts) and Chase (32.0pts) really making a statement this week. It could have been worse if he had Jacory Crosskey-Merrit starting. He had a season's best score of 26.0pts, but he was warming the bench this week. To be fair to Reece, it’s only taken 5 weeks, but Trevor Lawrence finally went over the 20pts mark, getting 25.34pts. That’s him done for the season now. Elsewhere in the squad Sam LaPorta (20.30pts) did well, as did Kareem Hunt (18.70pts) but for the rest, more of the same under achievement. I did try to find some positives for you Reece, but all I could come up with is that statistically you are the unluckiest coach in the league so far. You read unlucky, I read, worst. Your losing streak is hotting up as you now go 0-5 over the season. As your team name suggests, Shedeur needs a support group, but how long will it be before you need one?

Week 5 Score: SnowshufflerJr (139.75) 2-3 // A Tadd McShonkey (93.99) 1-4

I like this match up. I mean, what’s not to like. Rich returned to his opening season losing ways. Rich learned that picking up Jags players is not a good idea, just ask Reece. And that not scoring over 100pts is likely to result in a loss. Not one player scored above 20pts and the highlight, if you can call it that, was Jayden Daniels getting 17.14pts after two weeks out. Tough one for Rich as he now has a lot of work to do to turn this around. Jen on the other hand, had an excellent week, although I don’t like to see her win much more than Rich 😏 or anyone else for that matter. Deebo Samuel (23.60pts) got back to his Week 1 levels of performance and Emeka Egbuka (31.30pts) continued his excellent form in his rookie season. Elsewhere in the roster, Jen feels light at RB with some less than flattering scores. She’s definitely being carried by a fleet of excellent -WRs, but I always think that balance is key, so maybe you want to try and fix that?

Week 4 Score: Third Time Charmers (176.18) 5-0 // Multiple Goregasms (114.13) 2-3

I’m starting to feel a little tired of reporting on how great my team is each week. Actually, who am I kidding, I absolutely love it. 5-0 baby! I would list all the highlights, but I need to keep this to two pages, so only 4 players scored under 20pts, everyone else was on fire. My bench would have been no help, so it’s been an incredibly efficient week. This week’s victim has been a good sport, thanks Besty, but this was a one sided affair. A valiant effort, but no dice. Shout out to Rashid Shaheed (24.40pts), a decent score. I think there was a mishap with Bucky Irving, did you miss that he was out? Rookie error there Besty. And it would be remiss of me to not mention a negative score from the Ravens (-2.75pts) for getting hammered by the Texans. Not one any of us would have predicted.

Stats from the Overlord

Another week down and plenty to do for our coaches. Next week I’ve got Zan and I am sure there will be a focused effort to help me record my first loss of the season. Otherwise, I like the look of Dali vs Jen, which already looks evenly matched! Otherwise, Reece is facing a Week 6 loss to Mike. Dali is counting the game weeks until that record is gone. I am off to Mexico for the next two weeks, so next week you are in Matt Hulme’s © very capable hands.
