Week 2
It’s Time to get Serious
It’s Week 2 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the CeeDee Compilation Bowl Fantasy League. Strength, depth, picking the right players and not dropping Jared bloody Goff are the lessons this week. As Meghan Trainor should have sung, “It’s all about that bench…”

Week 2. Serious business now. This is where we really start to see who the players of this season might be. Spoiler, it’s not going to be Joe Burrow (7.04pts) now out with a toe injury. That stack just got way shorter, Andy. Jen has been busy filling up the trade block this week, although no takers. Surely someone has GOT to pick up Amon-Ra St. Brown (39.20pts). Make her an offer she can’t refuse. Otherwise, it seems that Matt Hulme© was quite prophetic when he said right before kick off, ‘Can’t wait to have picked all the wrong players again!’. And so, we begin.
Week 1 Score: A Tadd McShonkey (105.10) 0-2 // Breece Lightning (136.63) 2-0
No real reason for having this game first, other than it’s nice to read about Rich losing early on. Rookie Mike maintains his winning start - it’s not a streak until at least three games. A Cowboys duo of RB Williams (25.0pts) and K Brandon Aubrey (28.0pts), yes Brandon Aubrey, were the top performers. He did, however, leave a substantial amount of points on the bench - 80.40pts to be exact. Some notable misses, Rome Odunze (31.80pts), Tyreek Hill (16.90pts) and George Pickens (17.80pts), but with Rich having three players score under 10pts, it was always going to be a tough matchup. He did have some light, with Daniels (19.70pts), Robinson (19.80pts) and Etienne (16.90pts) getting solid points, but the rest of the team did not show up. What did we learn here? Mike is a threat and has a massive bench 😏. Rich has points consistency, but just not enough of them 2B a threat.
Week 1 Score: Game of Throws (123.79) 2-0 // SnowshufflerJr (87.84) 0-2
Lovely matchup this one. Amon-Ra St. Brown (39.20pts) on the bench. A colossal 98.70pts on the bench for Jen, a record for this league. To be fair to Jen, not one player in this league, or any other for that matter, would have played Drake Maye (26.30pts) over Jalen Hurts (10.54pts) and let’s be fair, the only other player that would have started a Jags player instead of St. Brown, is Reece. 88% efficiency score for Andy, so despite having just under 40pts on this bench, managed to pick the right players. The injury to Burrow (7.04pts) didn’t seem to affect him, as Chase (36.50pts) scored big, as did Jonathan Taylor (29.50pts). Long season ahead for Jen it seems.
Week 1 Score: Dali’s Salvadors (129.03) 2-0 // Clapton Cats (91.87) 1-1
Last week’s sniper got a Rookie’s welcome by our former Commissioner and founder of this league. Zan did have the lowest bench score of the week (27.80pts) but that corresponded with the 2nd lowest score. A drop of 58.49pts from last week's haul, showing an inconsistent start to the season. Josh Allen (11.82pts) was well below his best and Henry, with a lowly 1.30pts, was a tough result. Dali, on the other hand, is 2-0 so far and looks settled. Tucker Kraft (24.40pts) was the team highlight. Dali claims the 3rd most improved team points-wise, with a 15.85pts increase from last week, but his bench was stocked full of points. 89.14 to be exact. No player scored under 15pts - very impressive squad depth.
Week 1 Score: Multiple Goregasms (137.39) 1-1 // Shadeurs Support Group (107.60) 0-2
Last week’s zero turned hero this week. The team scored 58.80pts this week, with the second most efficient team (94.9%). De’Von Achane (26.2pts) was the star performer, but we should give the Ravens DEF some credit, bagging an impressive 17.75pts. Speaking of efficiency though…Reece. Most efficient team of the week (97.7%) but just not enough points on the board, despite Lamar posting 26.30pts and Nick Chubb (15.2pts) and Cooper Kupp (16.0pts) putting in decent shifts. Lowest bench score (28.84pts) and 3rd most consistent team with a 2.56pts increase from last week. Proving that high efficiency and consistency will be unable to hide how poor your team is.
Week 1 Score: Third Time Charmers (132.68) 2-0 // EverybodyNeedsGoodNabers (130.90) 0-2
This week’s closest matchup. I had absolutely no right to win this one. Fields (1.98pts) getting concussed and the 4th-highest bench score (60.54pts), meant that the bulk of my points came from CMC (22.70pts) and Nacua (27.60pts). My QB woes continue, dropping Goff (33.96pts) was a lowlight for me. Fields could be a bust, so do I actually start Dak in Week 3? As for the former champion, well, he’s now 0-2, and despite being the 2nd most improved team (+26.48pts), came up short, even with Malik Nabers getting 37.70pts and James Cook bringing in 25.50pts 😭. A better choice of Kenneth Walker (18.80pts) for DeVonta Smith (9.30pts) would have made the difference. Still an upward trend for Matt Hulme© and hopefully Week 3 will bring him some joy.

With that we say goodbye to Week 2. Joe Burrow out for three months, Justin Fields with a concussion and Jatden Fields day-to-day, the injury lists are growing. How will Jen turn her season around? Will Mike turn a winning start into a streak? Who will make Jen an offer she can’t refuse? Will Reece ever recover from his draft? Jen is first up in the Waivers, so let’s see what she does first. Week 3 sees a couple of good matchups. Long time friends Matt Hulme© and Rich Berkshire, and a battle for South Shields in Dali vs Besty. Alreeeeet!
According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:
Jordan Love - QB
Quinshon Judkins - RB
Calvin Austin - WR
Chig Okonkwo - TE
Chase McLaughlin - K
Seattle Seahawks 😂 - DEF
Legends don’t play for points. They play for the CeeDee Compilation Bowl.
