It’s Week 9 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the Leytonstoners Bowl Fantasy League. A rollercoaster week with two super tight games. Let’s jump right in!

An up and down week, but no surprises for the outcome of Dali’s matchup. Everyone, except Dali, is now past the 1,000pts marker. Rich stays top of the table, closely followed by Matt and then Jen in third. A reasonably quiet week on the waivers and free agency, with only eight pickups. There was one considerable screw up in that I offered Davante Adams as a trade to Dali late on Thursday evening, whilst considerably full of beer, but sadly I fell asleep before I could accept and process the trade. Thank God though, because he put up a decent score this week. Sorry Dali, this will not happen again. Also, a few speculative trades between Dali and Rich didn’t go through, but you gotta make the offer for them to accept. Lamar for Hill seems fair, right?

Week 9 Score: Games of Throws (160.46) // Leytonstoners (151.40)

Ironically, in the matchup that started the 7 game unbeaten run, this is the one that ended it. Thank you Andy, this result made me happier than my own this week. The gap of 9.06pts made for a very exciting Week 9, but sadly for Rich, switching Thomas for the new pickup, McConkey would have only made the losing gap smaller (3.86pts) 🥲. For Leytonstoners, the Week 8 Trade for Garrett Wilson is one I think I might regret as he put up a very tidy 30pts and also a special mention to Otton, who went past the 20pt mark for the second week running. As for Game of Throws, a return to the starting lineup for Daniels (23.86pts) and another big game from second-highest starter scorer, De’Von Achane (32.10pts) made a big difference. Also nice to see Cooper Kupp’s injury woes are behind him as he put 21.40pts on the board. Could this be the turning point for Andy’s season? Thanks again, this result really made my week and hopefully, ruined Rich’s.

Week 9 Score: SnowshufflerJr (120.94) // All At CeeDee (115.39)

The week’s tightest game with just 5.55pts in it was between Jen and Matt. One player different would have swung it for Matt, as he left 32.70pts WR Zay Flowers on his bench. He literally could have played in place of anyone in the team and won this one. It’s got to sting a little bit. Jen had all the luck here and just keeps marching on, going 6-3 and impressively has the lowest PA in the league. I haven’t got lots to say about this matchup. Matt H probably should have won it with a better choice in his starting lineup and if Patrick Mahomes hadn’t been Patrick Mahomes, then maybe Jen wouldn’t have emerged the winner. Seems like a lucky one this week for Jen.

Week 9 Score: Multiple Goregasms (157.55) // Changed liked OchoCinco (138.58)

A confusing matchup between Besty and Reece this week. Before Thursday, it looked like a slam dunk for Besty, with Reece having no chance. Then Sunday rolls around and with a third Commissioner assist of the season, Reece changes his TE and looks like he has a chance. Once it kicked off, it swung back and forth all Sunday evening with Besty, really not understanding how he was getting, as he put it, a shoeing, from Reece. Come Monday morning, it’s a different tale and they are level on points (ish) with Besty having just one Blank Space for Travis Kelce to play. How Did It End? He hauls in 22pts, seals the win for Besty, and gets a perfect lineup, taking home the maximum possible points. Reece is sunk and now 3-6 for the season. The squad needs surgery, you’ve got two players Out, and one on Injured Reserve. Let’s try and haul in some wins on the waivers. Besty, top job mate. A fun match-up!

Week 9 Score: God Bless Ramerica (138.80) // Dali’s Salvadors (78.65)

Ok, ok. We get it. Dali’s much more impressive run to go 0-9 is now becoming the stuff of legend. I am honestly not sure how it’s gone on this long, but in a weird way, it’s really quite impressive. I did the math(s), and even though Dali has a frankly ridiculous 95pts on the bench, if, and it’s a big if, he had picked the right players, he would have still come up short, with only 135.15pts and 3.65pts adrift. Agonising. I think 95pts on the bench is a record, so the positive here is that Dali continues to break records, maybe for all the wrong reasons, but records nonetheless. I can’t escape criticism here, leaving the high-scoring non-starter, Joe Burrow, (39.14pts) on the bench, and my less than inspired switch of DEF a couple of weeks ago is not working out as the Chief’s leaked 24pts. I’m sitting 2nd, but need to improve my PF to put some distance between me and those at the top.

Week 10 is up next. Our regular service resumes and Dali is back with the first pick of the Waivers. Dali plays Reece next week, so I say good luck to him. My pick of the matchups is newly monikered, The Lambulance vs Leytonstoners. The old university friends go head to head with Matt looking for revenge from Week 3. Same as last week, Reece, let’s try to pay attention, yeah 😀?! These Commissioner assists are running low.
