Week 6

It’s Week 6 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the Leytonstoners Bowl Fantasy League. The headline is not Matt Hulme’s inspired name change, but Dali’s continued comedy run of losses reaching a new all-time low.

We are having a bit of a format switch up this week…a short review from me, still recovering from the sheer volume of beer I consumed on Sunday, but your host this week is going to be none other than the Game of Throws coach Andy Saiker, with a much different than expected view of this week.

But my view first. Gameweek 6 was a fun one. A fantastic day out at the Toiletbowl Spurs Stadium (thank you Dali) watching Caleb Williams finally live up to the hype machine. It was interesting to talk to Bears fans who seem to really dislike the guy, but you can’t argue with the scoreline and our resident Jags fan must have left with a tear in his eye.

Standouts for me, two very low bench scores from Jen (6pts) and Reece (4.1pts). Jen really making sure Dali felt the full force of that 156.12pts tally. The gap between Dali and Jen was so wide that Reece, Rich and Besty scored lower than the 114.36pts disparity. Mind that gap indeed. League whipping boy Dali, desperately showing us how great he is doing in his other league, but in the league where it counts, it’s going from bad to worse week on week.

Right enough of me rabbiting on, I will give the floor to Andy for his take on Week 6.

Guest Writer - Andy Saiker.

“Week 6 made me feel genuine concern for someone in this league. Perhaps you’d think it would be Dali going 0-6, choosing the wrong QB AGAIN and working so hard at the London game he couldn’t follow the WhatsApp convo other than trying to stalk where Matt and Rich were. Perhaps you’d think it would be Matt dropping Cole Kmet and then witnessing him in person drop 2 TDs live at the London game to punish him. Or perhaps you’d think it would be Rich who desperately sought a trade to add some spice to the London game by acquiring Brian Thomas Jr, only to witness him lay an absolute turd of a points haul.

The poor soul I was concerned for was Reece. Not because he was facing me this gameweek and I crushed him by a whopping 8.61 points, but the fact he’s going to have to present Jaguars Weekly UK after that dumpster fire of a performance from the Jags where players seemed to quit in-game, they’re meant to be the London-adopted team yet were ruthlessly booed and the fact they have to do it all again in Week 7. So even though they want to sack Doug Pederson, they can’t just yet. I can’t wait to see how you spin it in this week’s show.

As mentioned, a storming performance from myself against Reece saw me climb to 3rd in the table with a 4-2 record and those waiver wire changes made 3 weeks ago have seen a 3 game win streak. Will it continue when facing off against Commish Matt next week? We’ll see.

In the tie of the round, it was the battle of the Matts and a claim for bragging rights. Kmet-less Matt vs CeeDee Matt. It turned out Kmet-less Matt didn’t even need him to win. What a flex, instead relying on Godwin to pull off an almost 40-burger and sending CeeDee Matt back to the drawing board to come up with a new team name that will hopefully bring better luck next week.

Despite Brian Thomas Jr busting, it didn’t matter for Rich, who still managed to claim the victory and maintain his position at the top of the league. All of this achieved without what turns out to be his Achilles heel this season, CMC. See what I did there? Besty got Hurt(s) playing the wrong QB. You’ve been hanging out with Dali and eating mushy peas too much together. It was an absolute sheDakking!

The final game saw Jen obliterate Dali. Jordan Love, AJ Brown, Kenneth Walker and the Texans D stepped up for her but it wasn’t even necessary. Dali’s team right now resembles the Jags. They’re giving up on him. Only 2 players managed to hit double-digits whilst 2 scored less than zero! Poor Dali would have been better off not even putting a full team out. Hopefully things turn around next week for him but if not, he’ll always have his other league to take comfort from.

And so, we throw ourselves into Week 7. Dali again with the first pick in the waivers and I hope his winless streak comes to end against Leytonstoners mostly because (in your best Geordie accent), I would love it if he beat them. My pick of the matchups is AC/CeeDee vs Changed like Ochocinco in a battle of the name changers. Will Dali ever end his streak? Will Reece be able to keep a straight face on camera talking about the Jags? Will Rich ever recover from his hangover? Can Matt Hulme top the AC/CeeDee moniker?

According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:

Baker Mayfield - QB

J.K. Dobbins - RB

Jakobi Meyers - WR

Evan Engram - TE

Harrison Butker - K

Buffalo Bills - DEF

LET'S GO! (any feedback is very welcome)
