Week 5

It’s Week 5 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the Leytonstoners Bowl Fantasy League. A bloody tight week for some, but the same old story for others…here we go!

Top Stats - Week Five

Game of Throws vs Dali’s Salvadors40.16pts

Where to start this week? I’ve got two team name changes, a 0.82pts points difference, a fifth consecutive defeat, a third consecutive defeat, Kyle Pitts actually showing up, a 0pts bench score, a Wikipedia journey and smug joint-commissioner.

The first match up to talk about is SnowshufflerJr and the FINALLY renamed, Changed like Ochocinco. Before we get into it. I have to say, this team name change is inspired. As an uneducated NFL fan, I admit I had to look this one up on Wikipedia. We’ll have to see in Week 6 if the Commissioners accept the name change or tear off the name badge and switch back to Chad Johnson. To the game and it was the tightest of tight margins in this game. Jen’s win streak comes to an end by 0.82pts. There’s nothing in this match-up, a Sam Darnold underperformance, but a big performance from Tee Higgins probably just pipped it for Reece. As for Jen, pretty average scores across the board, maybe a few too many points on the bench, but it’s hard to argue with the starting choices. A lucky win and an unlucky loss. One for the neutrals for sure.

The week’s biggest score came in the matchup with Besty’s Multiple Goregasms (152.53pts) and Matt Hulme’s newly named Pylons of the Lambs (125.99pts). My guy, Dak Prescott, was a nice pickup in the waivers and a ridiculous 44.33pts haul from Ja’Marr Chase helped a huge amount. No surprises from Matt’s team, against a very average score across the starters and no real standout performances, he was comprehensively beaten this week. It should be noted that it was good to see Besty get stuck into the waivers this week. But, Devin Singletary in the starting lineup. You were very lucky to not get punished here.

I think it’s time we had a chat about Dali. I am worried for him. 5 matchups. 5 defeats. Only Week 1 getting into 3 figures. A big score from Kyler on the bench and a total of 63.2pts from this week’s second highest bench score. Dali’s Salvadors concept season is not going well and all the talk of the ‘other’ league going well seems quite convenient. So the matchup against Game of Throws was a very professional win for Andy. No frills, no spills. But against the league’s weakest and losing-est team, it was an easy week. I’m not sure the pressure will ease up with Dali going up against Jen in Week 6 - best of luck.

Lastly, the commissioner matchup. God Bless Ramerica vs Leytonstoners. As I am writing the week’s report, it’s obvious I did not come out the victor. So that’s three losses on the trot now which is depressing after I really thought I was onto something at the end of Week 2. It could be worse, though, right Dali? Finally Kyle Pitts showed up as did the rest of my bench. 75.4pts on the bench this week is not a stat I wanted. Especially when Rich’s team had a very respectable and efficient 0pts bench this week. So, kudos to him. Nice points from Lamar Jackson again…something of a dream pick this season having only scored under 20pts once so far this season. He remains the #1 QB. Nice points from TE- Tucker Kraft as well, a nice pickup in the waivers…again well done Richard. Thanks.

And so, we march onto Week 6. Dali again with the first pick in the waivers and I hope his winless streak comes to end against SnowshufflerJr. My pick of the matchups is Dali’s Salvadors vs SnowshufflerJr. Can Dali end his streak? Will Jen make sure he stays winless? Myself and Rich are off to the Jags / Bears game this week, so Jen / Dali / Reece I know you are all there, hopefully we can have a beer or vegan fish and chips at some point? Maybe a post-game meet-up?

According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:

Joe Burrow - QB

Travis Etienne - RB

Wan’Dale Robinson - WR

Evan Engram - TE

Matthew Wright - K

Philadelphia Eagles - DEF

LET'S GO! (any feedback is very welcome)
