Week 8
It’s Week 8 of ‘A View from Row Z’, your uninformed take on the various happenings in the Leytonstoners Bowl Fantasy League. The tightest game of all-time this week and a shock that Dali wasn’t the lowest scoring player in Week 8!

What a week! So much happened, a few things stayed the same, but also a few surprises. Five teams have sailed into the 1,000+ pts club and spoiler alert, one of the five isn’t Dali. Another busy week on the waivers. God Bless Ramerica making some moves and a trade after realising Week 12 was something of a bye week bust. Plus having three Jets players in my lineup, I needed to make sure I am well covered. All about that planning, right? My favourite pick was Rich picking up Kincaid and 4 hours later dropping him in favour of Cade Otton for an astonishing 29.2pts. Well done Sir! Week 8 sees everyone starting the fixture rotation again and maybe a few of you are out for revenge.
Previous Score: SnowshufflerJr (141.79) // Leytonstoners (95.47)
Let’s kick off with new news! Dali was not the lowest scorer this week. Finally! That accolade goes to Jen’s SnowshufflerJr, who came up against a rampaging effort from Rich’s Leytonstoners. Jen had the 2nd highest bench score this week, misfiring with the injured Jordan Love and the Seahawks Offense just not being able to get things running with Kenneth Walker. Rich, on the other hand, with an inspired Otton showing his mettle in TE Day alongside Jackson, Cook, Mixon and Smith and hauling in 20+pts as well. 7 wins on the trot for Rich. Who is going to stop him? It's the first pick of the waivers for you, Jen, and hopefully some better choices next week!
Previous Score: Game of Throws (164.13) // The Lambed United (131.06)
Next up, I really enjoyed this week’s second tightest game, Game of Throws vs The Lambed United. First of all, the Wednesday morning updated team name is becoming more and more fun as the weeks progress. I hope you can make it to Week 17, Matt. Only 10.66pts between them and really it came down to Andy not picking the absolute weapon that is Jayden Daniels. I’d love to know the thinking here. I would have thought Daniels had the consistency to be picked above Williams, but maybe you bought into the hype a little too much. A big underperformance from Amari Cooper, who showed he is exactly the player he was at the Browns. CeeDee Lamb was the star of the show though, getting just shy of 40pts and putting things out of reach for Mr Saiker. 4-4 for both coaches now. Looks like they both need a little more consistency if they want to make a strong case for the playoffs.
Previous Score: Multiple Goregasms (122.92) // Dali’s Salvadors (108.73)
The battle of the Geordies from South Shields next. You could feel the rivalry between the two and let’s be honest, Besty really showed Dali who was boss. A 45.81pt destruction of Dali’s Salvadors. A look at Dali’s bench shows 66pts, but when you check at how it could have worked out, it wouldn’t have made the difference required. The Seahawks Defense was a real letdown, as were Kmet and the newly traded DeAndre Hopkins. Besty, what a great game for you. Multiple Goregasms hitting the 2nd highest score of the season so far. Hurts, Chase and Kelce were the standout performers and with zero pickups in the waivers or trades, Besty is showing us he has total faith in his team. That or he has no time to debate who should be in and out of his line-up. A conservative player is our Besty.
Previous Score: God Bless Ramerica (137.88) // Changed Like Ochocinco (127.01)
Now, for our final matchup. You need to get your calculators out because the maths needed to get to this scoreline is outrageous. 0.02pts split the two, with Matt taking the spoils. To be fair to Reece, he should have won this. The key here being, should. A different choice of QB and paying enough attention to notice that Metcalf was Out would have easily won him the game. I mean, I even sent a message to the group to check teams. You can lead the horse to water, but you cannot force them to drink I guess 🤣. Kyle Pitts was benched and yet again decided that this was the week he was going to perform. A season's best of 25.1pts for him, proving that he is unreliable and every bit the irritating fantasy pick he has been the past few years. This is the second time he’s been in my squad. I should have learned by now.
And so, we throw ourselves into Week 9. In an unscheduled change, Jen gets first pick in the waivers. I would wish that Dali’s win streak comes to an end this week, but as he is playing me, I hope he loses by a large margin. My pick of the matchups is Game of Throws vs Leytonstoners, mostly because I would like to see Rich’s winning streak end. Good luck to Reece as well this week, let’s try to pay attention, yeah 😀.
According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:
Kyler Murray - QB
Alexander Mattison - RB
Chris Olave - WR
Dalton Kincaid - TE
Austin Seibert - K
New Orleans Saints - DEF
LET'S GO! (any feedback is very welcome)
