I feel like this week, things got really serious. A busy week on the Waiver Wire and Free Agency with my pick of the trades coming from Rich grabbing the Broncos DEF for 20.75pts. Inspired. The league table is getting a little more stretched and the PF/PA is going to really start to make a difference. Jen is just shy of the magic PF 1,000pts milestone and predictably, Dali has sailed past that milestone for PA. Yay!
Good options on where to start this evening, but I think I am going to have to address the elephant in the room and talk about Leytonstoners vs Dali’s Salvadors. Another solid win for Rich keeping him at the top of the standings with the 3rd highest PF and 6 straight wins under his belt. Obviously, it would be remiss of me to not point out that Rich got pretty lucky with Lamar Jackson absolutely destroying this week. Highest scoring rostered player and a very hefty points score of 44.44pts. Mixon scored well, as did Thomas (a week later than hoped) and the Broncos, but the rest was a solid ‘meh’ of a performance. This write-up is starting to feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day- same shit, different week for Dali. So close and yet so far. If only Hill and Aiyuk were on the bench for Hunt and Mooney. If only Lamar Jackson wasn’t so goddamn good. If only he’d played Reece or Matt H this week. The streak goes on and maybe next week’s battle of the Geordies will bring about some good fortune.
Speaking of Reece and Matt Hulme, well this was a fun match-up. Matt recorded two name changes in a week- Under the CeeDee (very good). With a Week 1 throwback pickup of Nick Chubb, the name went back to pre-draft Chubb Rub. Reece’s Changed like Ochocinco have suffered in recent weeks with Reece too busy watching the Jags be bang-average at Sp*rs, having to talk about how bang-average they were on Sky Sports and then watching them somehow transform into the team we saw at Wembley. The kick-return was something else! Considering all that, he can be forgiven for leaving a 0pt Tank Dell in his line-up and having Justin Jefferson warming the bench in what would have been a matchup-winning performance. Matt’s Chubb Rub was not well-oiled enough to pull off a convincing win, but it was a win nonetheless. Surprising to see the Bills new WR Amari Cooper sitting on the bench and Chubb’s return to playing action delivered a light points tally. Still the tightest matchup of the week served up a defeat from the Jaws of victory for Reece. Matt must be happy with that 0.71pts extra.
Besty and Jen are next up with another tight matchup. SnowshufflerJr showing that it’s okay to leave 51.66pts on the bench because your team is so stacked with talent, that at this point, it feels like showing off. Only one mistake of Diggs in the starting line-up over Williams, but again, I feel like I am looking for problems. That 1,000pts milestone is going to be broken next week, I can feel it. Multiple Goregasms really put up a fight, keeping the gap to just 13.89pts. A switch of Montgomery for Pickens would have sealed it for him. Unlucky this time…onto the next one eh!
Our final matchup this week was God Bless Ramerica vs Game of Throws. Now, as the writer of this excellent review, I feel it’s important to be truthful and objective, but there really is something sweet about beating Andy. It hits different. Like that first cool lager on a summer's day or that lie-in after the clocks go back. Every time I logged in, I was happier and happier to see that gap getting wider (37.88pts if you needed reminding) and the win percentage moving further in my favour. Even Kamara’s off day couldn’t get me down. A bad day at the office all round for Andy: Mike Evans - definitely Out with a hamstring injury, Jayden Daniels- Out with bruised ribs and Engram doing everything he could to not score points despite catching all 5 of his targets on Sunday. There does need to be some work on my squad though, I am way too reliant on the Jets and we all know that is a mistake. So I am willing to hear offers for Adams or Wilson. Make me some offers I can’t refuse…? Please.
And so, we throw ourselves into Week 8. Dali again with the first pick in the waivers and I hope his winless streak comes to an end against Multiple Goregasms in the mighty battle of the Geordies. Although one of them technically is from South Shields, I feel like the accent is the same wherever you are in that part of the world. So the questions remain, will Dali ever end his streak? Can Jen end Rich’s winning streak? What will Matt H change his team name to this week? Will anyone help Matt with his Jets issues?
According to Sleeper, our top picks on the waivers include:
Baker Mayfield - QB
Tank Bigsby - RB
Wan’dale Robinson - WR
Dalton Kincaid - TE
Harrison Butker - K
LA Rams - DEF
LET'S GO! (any feedback is very welcome)
