Waiver Wire Review

Another busy week on the Waivers, with an actual, real, proper trade in there as well. Two players still on the Trade Block if anyone cares to partake, but let’s be honest, it’s slim pickings. Sam Darnold was the pick of the bunch with the highest score this week - nice pickup from Reece there. Otherwise, the most activity came from Dali, looking to turn his fortunes and Rich trying to compensate for his injury-ravaged squad.

Excellent Week 3 performance from SnowshufflerJr. Jen’s team came away with the week's highest score and biggest gap to her matchup. Kyren Williams and rookie Malik Nabers were the standout performers. The Bowers trade was not as productive as hoped, but still didn’t really make much of a difference when your opponent was so poor.

Speaking of which. WOW. Just when you thought it couldn’t be any worse than Dali last week, Andy Saiker’s Game of Throws showed that really anything can happen in this league, with what I am predicting to be the worst score of the season with 64.28pts. Yes, you read it right, absolutely woeful performance from every starter- Rashid Shaheed with a very respectable 0pts, where he was unable to catch any of his five targets in the Saints loss to the Eagles. Even the new team logo couldn’t inspire a win this week leaving Andy 1-2 and hoping for a turnaround in Week 4.

With one loss follows another, it’s 0-3 for Dali’s Salvadors. This week was an improved effort but some horrible starter choices were costly with Purdy (31.78pts) & Goedert (27pts) left out that would have brought him the win he so desperately needs right now. I feel partly responsible, pushing the Kyler angle, but as Dali said, it’s a 50-50 between the two QBs, so who knows who the right choice is week-to-week. My money is still with Kyler. Not that I should be an authority on any of this. #teamkyler. Also, it should be noted that Dali beat my highest bench score record from Week 2 with 75.38pts. Gotta take those wins where you can get them. 😉

The bad news keeps coming with Matt Hulme’s second loss of the season, but sadly his CeeDee Playaplayaplayas didn't quite hit expectations. Jonathan Taylor, the pick of the starters, had a great game for the Colts, but it was the benching of Amari Cooper and Diontae Johnson, that was key. Unfortunately starting them wouldn’t have saved you, but at least would have made it a 1.58pts matchup. Good call on shedding the Cowboys Defense as they managed a negative points score this week. I really appreciate the team name change though, a little overdue, but I look forward to seeing the next CeeDee Lamb-related pun for Week 4.

Now for the last of this week's bad news. My 0 had to go and God Bless Ramerica tripped up in the week’s closest matchup. A no show from K- Ka’imi Fairbairn, TE- Kyle Pitts being relatively anonymous for the third week running and leaving Derrick Henry on the bench, cost me big time. Josh Allen, the top performer of the week (38.92pts) couldn’t even save me, although he did make it look closer than it should have been. It had to happen sooner or later, but it doesn’t make the pill any easier to swallow. Any takers for Mr Pitts? I am ready to hear some offers.

Now, Jen aside, we’ve talked enough about losers this week, let’s talk about the rest of our winners. Let’s start with Besty’s Multiple Goregasms. A tight win and big performances from Saquon Barkley and Ja’mar Chase. For someone, who has only made 2 changes to his team, both in DEF and is self-admittedly ‘…confused by the app,’ you’re doing a decent job going 2-1 over the first three weeks. Perhaps you’re trying to lull us all into a false sense of security and play down just how much you’re paying attention and maybe it’s all part of a bigger plan.

Team Reeceparkinson seem to have come through the Week 1 hiccup and Week 2 commissioner assist to put together a solid win in Week 3, proving that it was indeed, ‘Darnold Time’. DK Metcalf had another big week, but Darnold was the hero, throwing for four touchdowns and picking up a bruised knee for his trouble. Looks like he will be fine for Week 4 and I am sure the magic sponge will be applied to its fullest extent to make sure he is ready for another blockbuster week.

Lastly, but by no means least, Leytonstoners were the final winners of the week going 2-1 and despite injury issues and benching Chris Olave, came away with a very solid points haul for the week (139.23pts). Again, Lamar Jackson bringing it home and a very nice pickup in Zach Charbonnet in the Free Agency, builds on his decent Week 2 with 25.7pts. Nice work from Rich there and hopefully he can keep up the two game win streak in Week 4.

Next up, Week 4. Dali again with the first pick in the waivers and I hope his winless streak comes to end against CeeDee Playaplayaplayas (sorry Matt). It’s definitely my pick of the match-ups, although if you believe the points predictor, then it may be 0-4. Come on Dali, you’ve got this!

Some of you may have noticed some new team logos. I have been messing around with AI Image generators and have been trying to create logos for everyone. Safe to say, some are easier than others, with some very mixed results. Happy to share if anyone cares to look 😂 but I still have Besty, Jen, Matt H and Reece to sort, but team names like Team Reeceparkinson are difficult to account for.
